HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin which is a hormone associated with pregnancy. It is produced by the placenta and maximizes the functional capacity of the body's control centers in the hypothalamus. That one center in the hypothalamus, the fat bank, controls the movement and distribution of fat throughout the body. HCG mobilizes abnormal fat and releases it as a source of energy and nutrients. Thus, when administered in low daily doses paired with calorie restriction and appropriate supplementation it creates significant fat loss and body re-contouring.

HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that is causes more attractive or 'normal' distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie restricted diets.
